Why I Don’t Flush the Toilet on My Period

I share my house with my husband and tween son. I also share a bathroom with them, and when I am on my period, I don’t flush the toilet, intentionally. Whomever uses the bathroom next will know that I am menstruating. If they don’t notice the blood in the toilet, they’ll surely spot the washed cloth pads hanging up to dry around the rim of the laundry basket.
